YOUR DOCTORATE IN

3 years at glance

During the first year, the program focuses on research methods, while the second year focuses on current subjects of academic interest in the cohort. During the first year, executive students are twinned with the faculty which will help develop their research interests and will probably constitute the basis of a thesis. Students work on their theses in the summer after the first and second years of lessons. The third and last year is devoted to the writing and defense of the thesis. At the end of the program, students will receive a doctoral diploma in Business Administration degree from Montblanc Business School.

Possible extension up to 6 years

The length of the program is three to six years. Montblanc Business School Executive DBA program is essentially a blended program. The initial duration of the DBA program in Montblanc is 3 years, with the possibility of an extension of additional 3 years, according to several factors. We consider elements such as the research question, the topic, the candidates' network, the chosen research methodology, the availability of the participant, the chosen languages, and the candidates' language proficiency and writing ability. Those elements can all influence the length of the program. In addition, we understand that due to the professional nature of the studies chosen, changes in the candidate's professional obligations may also affect the length of time required to complete the Executive DBA, hence the availability of less restrictive time frames.

Calendar & Phasing
Experience the Magic.

Phase 1 - Definition of the research question (estimated duration in optimal conditions: 18 months): A consultation session will be organized with the director of the doctoral school to define the first step of the research process. Following this counseling session, a faculty supervisor will be assigned to you. You will work on and be required to submit a literature review as well as an initial work based on a case study.

Phase 2 - Action Plan:   The literature review and case study are presented and discussed in collaboration with the supervisor and the doctoral school executive committee. This allows for the final validation of the research question. The presentation can be done in person, or, if you cannot attend in person, via an online platform. After validation, a DBA thesis action plan will be determined with you to prepare you for Phase 4, which includes setting the initial milestones for writing your DBA thesis.

Phase 3 - Writing the thesis (estimated duration under optimal conditions: 18 months): During Phase 3 of your dissertation, regular feedback, support, and progress monitoring will be provided to ensure that you receive appropriate guidance during the writing process while ensuring the timely completion of the dissertation. Your thesis will also include a revised literature review.

Phase 4 - Oral Defense: The DBA thesis evaluation includes a face-to-face or live video examination. The dissertation is evaluated by a chairperson, two referees, a minimum of two appropriately qualified examiners with doctoral-level research degrees, and three professionals in your research area.

Phase 5 - Publication: Once completed, your DBA thesis is published on the Montblanc Business School repository and other platforms.
